Rahaysa launches at Selfridges, marking a new chapter for Indian perfumery

From chai to sandalwood, Rahaysa bottles up the raw, lived-in beauty of India and it's the niche fragrance discovery we didn't know we needed.

As someone devoted to having a signature scent, it’s not often I see a new fragrance brand I’m genuinely excited to try, but when something has the Selfridges’ stamp of approval, I’m willing to give just about anything a go. A good thing, too, because otherwise I would never have discovered Rahaysa, my new favourite perfume brand.

Rahaysa is the first Indian niche fragrance house to enter the beauty hall, so its introduction marks a true cultural shift in an industry so dominated by European perfumers. Rahaysa’s fragrances are all about celebrating the raw Indian ingredients that are used in mainstream scents, but cementing them in their cultural roots. Think: sandalwood, jasmine and mango. The scents are rooted in lived experience instead of stereotype, bottling up the rush of a rickshaw ride or the warmth of the first sip of chai in the morning.

All seven Rahaysa fragrances are now available to buy from Selfridges, including Rickshaw Rhythms, Love Marriage and the best-selling Chai Addiction. Though we came for the scent, the visual identity of the brand makes it worth staying for, with campaign imagery showing raw materials pressed directly into the skin. Bold fonts on minimalist black bottles also mean the scents are the perfect chic addition to any dressing table. Shop Rahaysa at Selfridges online here, or better yet head in-store to sample the scents yourself.
