Two Decades of Backstage Chemistry Just Became a Louis Vuitton Makeup Collection

Marking 130 years of the Monogram, Louis Vuitton's fashion and beauty teams have finally released a joint collection, launching 27 August.
La Beauté Louis Vuitton is launching its first-ever beauty collaboration between artistic director Nicolas Ghesquière and cosmetics creative director Dame Pat McGrath, marking 130 years of the house’s Monogram canvas. The two have worked together backstage on Louis Vuitton runway shows for over two decades, and this is their first project translating that relationship into a retail collection.

The range splits into two palettes, each made around a Monogram canvas colourway. Monogram Dune pulls from the warm beige canvas: an eyeshadow palette with icy white, rose gold, hematite grey and a pink-flecked anise, a warm rosy-beige satin lipstick, and a Stellar Veil topper balm with holographic sparkle for a sheer, glossy finish. Monogram Infrarouge pulls from the black-and-red canvas: an eyeshadow palette in muted rosy beige, cool taupe, sparkling anthracite and deep burgundy, a blackcurrant-toned satin lipstick, and a Galactic Veil topper balm with a bolder, more saturated glitter finish.

Both ranges also mark the first time Louis Vuitton has put the Monogram Dune and Infrarouge canvases onto a beauty compact specifically, finished in rose gold hardware and off-white aluminium for Dune, and matte black with red lacquer for Infrarouge. In keeping with La Beauté’s usual approach, every compact takes recyclable refills rather than being designed for one-time use.
The collection also comes with a dedicated line of small leather goods in the same two canvases, lipstick pouches, mini vanities, and blotting papers housed in their own Monogram sleeve.
La Beauté Louis Vuitton’s Monogram Dune and Monogram Infrarouge collection has a digital pre-launch today, 20 August, with the full worldwide launch following on 27 August.
