Gracie Abrams Just Made the Most Joyful Chanel Film in Years

There are campaign films, and then there are the ones you watch twice just to catch everything you missed the first time. The new Coco Mademoiselle Crush Absolu film, directed by Joe Wright and starring Gracie Abrams, is very much the second kind.
The film follows Mademoiselle through Paris on her own terms. Overdressed one moment, stripped back the next, bare legs and dark eyes and a white shirt, no keys, no plan, no map. She moves fast because she has to invent the road as she goes. The guardians of propriety are right behind her, obviously, but she ducks into a café, finds her footing in its Art Deco geometry and proceeds to turn the entire room into the best night any of them have ever had. A heel strikes the floor, hands clap, and something shifts. One hundred people become one rhythm because one person refused to be ordinary.
Abrams, Grammy nominated and already a Chanel House Ambassador, is the perfect choice for this. Her natural elegance and the way she moves through her own creative world, slightly sideways, entirely herself, maps directly onto what Coco Mademoiselle has always represented.
