MAC announces Chappell Roan as the new face of VIVA GLAM

Pop princess, LGBTQ+ icon and now MAC VIVA GLAM muse Chappell Roan brings her Midwest Princess magic to three new lip shades and a campaign that proves beauty has always been political.
MAC VIVA GLAM has been the make-up brand’s most iconic sect since the 1980s. With 100 percent of all profits going to charitable endeavours, the lipstick line has an alumni of famous muses including Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Miley Cyrus and Dita Von Teese. The philanthropic venture is more than just a range of products, it’s a cultural movement.
Today (9 June), MAC announced the latest face to grace the VIVA GLAM campaign: Chappell Roan. Pop princess and LGBTQ+ icon, Roan is the perfect pick for the ultra-glam editorial campaign. Famous for her edgy ‘Midwest Princess’ style which blends ’80s glitter and renaissance chainmail, the singer has collaborated with the brand on three brand new lip shades.
Speaking on the products, Roan said she wanted the packaging to “live in the world of Medieval, Art Nouveau” and to create a shade to match her hair. And she did just that. Plum-toned Roan of Arc is an ode to her iconic MTV VMA performance in 2024, Damnsel Lip Glass Air is a shimmery sheer gloss and UnNatural Red Head is, well, inspired by Roan’s unnatural red hair.
As the campaign drops in Pride Month, it’s only right that MAC will be donating a generous $300,000 to Roan’s own LGBTQ+ nonprofit organisation, the Midwest Princess Project, and its partner organisations. Stunning lip products, French Revolution inspired imagery and a good cause at the heart of it? The new MAC VIVA GLAM campaign is set to be one of the most talked about moments in pop culture this year.
