Le Labo’s Most Coveted Fragrance Collection: Just Got a New Scent and It’s a Love Letter to Beijing

The cult fragrance house is expanding its City Exclusive Collection with SHIU 25, a new eau de parfum drawn from the stillness at the heart of China's capital.
Every September, something rare happens in the world of fragrance. Le Labo, the Brooklyn-born perfume house that built its name on unhurried craft and a refusal to play by industry rules, briefly opens up its most elusive offering. For one month only, its City Exclusive Collection gets to leave home.
For most of the year, each scent lives only in the city that inspired it. Previous creations include POIVRE 23 for London, MUSC 25 for Los Angeles and MYRRHE 55 for Shanghai, to name a few. Le Labo has distilled nineteen cities, nineteen distinct portraits in scent, each one resolutely local by design.
This year, the collection welcomes its first Beijing fragrance: SHIU 25.
Deborah Royer, Global Brand President and Creative Director described SHIU 25 as “an expression of what the city holds for us in its traditional spaces built for quietude and inner return.” The fragrance calls the Beijing He Yuan Lab home, a culturally protected Beizi Mansion tucked into historic Wang Fu Central, where the brand’s wabi-sabi sensibility sits naturally alongside classical Siheyuan courtyard architecture.
Built around Shiu, the quieter expression of the Ho tree and traditionally associated with balance and calm, it settles iris and olibanum over warm, grounding woods.
The full City Exclusive range is available worldwide throughout September, with samples and discovery sets online from 1st August. Full-size bottles (15ml to 500ml) drop on 1st September at lelabofragrances.com, in Le Labo labs, and at select stockists.
