Chanel Turns Up the Volume on a Classic With Coco Mademoiselle Crush Absolu

Six years after L’Eau Privée, Chanel is adding another chapter to the Coco Mademoiselle story. Coco Mademoiselle Crush Absolu was created by in-house perfumer Olivier Polge and keeps the original’s bones intact but turns the intensity up several notches.

On paper, it opens with grapefruit and lychee, then rose and jasmine follow fairly quickly, taking some of the edge off. The base is vetiver, vanilla and patchouli, which as a combination tends to have more longevity than lighter, citrus-led scents. 

Polge describes the fragrance as being about the wearer’s own experience rather than how it comes across to other people – self-expression over trying to make an impression.
