Chanel goes to the darker side of pink and the result is more Bratz than Barbie, more vampy than vanilla
The maison taps into its darker side with its new beauty capsule
Chanel is a brand best known for class and elegance. A favourite for Marilyn Monroe, Princess Diana and Jackie Kennedy to name a few, though the house has a more mature reputation, it has never been afraid of a little controversial edge. Their latest beauty capsule, the Rouge Noir Collection, embodies exactly this.
A labour of love from a member of Chanel’s esteemed Comètes Collective trio, Ammy Drammeh, the collection is a love letter to the darker side of the maison’s signature colour: pink. Complimented by deep mauves and cool-toned nudes, it’s more Bratz than Barbie, making it perfectly on-trend as gothic-chic continues to rise to the top.
The collection is formed of two looks, inclusive of base products, lipsticks, eyeshadows and nail polishes ensuring no details have been spared. Look 1, Sharpest Pink, utilises hot pink across the eyes, softened by a pearlescent rosy highlighter, and sharpened by a vampy mauve lip combo. Look 2, Red Obscura, inverts this. A cool nude lip pulled straight from a Gabriette lookbook is deepened by a moody mauve liner pulled into the waterline and a dark mahogany nail polish to top it all off.
