Westwood Debuts the Subversive Drunken Trainer

Vivienne Westwood has just launched a brand-new footwear style that crashes a formal shoe straight into a classic sports sneaker. Debuting for Autumn-Winter 2026, the Drunken Trainer takes the house’s cult-favourite, long-nosed Hammerhead silhouette and warps it into an everyday shoe.

The main talking point here is the upper, which looks like it is actively sliding off the sole. The shoe utilizes Westwood’s legendary ‘drunken’ pattern cutting system which is a tailoring trick first seen on the Spring-Summer 2000 runway that completely throws out straight lines in favour of deliberate, beautiful irregularity.

The silhouette keeps the defining features of the original Worlds End style, including the elongated square toe, racing stripes and a leather sole. The house then layers on its classic hallmarks like a burgundy and gold woven label, an embossed foil orb, and a sporty stripe trim.

For the launch, Westwood is dropping two distinct material versions. The first is a clean, distressed option built from black leather with a worn-in finish and left with raw, undyed edges. The second is a direct nod to the archive print, featuring a snake-effect leather made with a sequin-like foil layer that mimics iridescent scales, all sitting on a soft, velvety split suede base.
