Tiffany & Co. Unveils Sixteen Stone Mother-of-Pearl Ruby Watch
421 diamonds, a rotating ruby ring and 25 hours of hand-craftsmanship in every single piece.
Tiffany & Co. has introduced the Sixteen Stone Mother-of-Pearl Ruby watch, a new timepiece that pays homage to Jean Schlumberger’s enduring design legacy. The watch builds on the House’s celebrated Sixteen Stone jewellery collection.
At the centre of the design is a dial composed of two parts: a fixed mother-of-pearl disc and a freely rotating outer ring crafted in 18k yellow gold, set with 12 round diamonds and 12 rubies. The ring rotates with the wearer’s wrist movement, echoing the sense of motion that defined much of Schlumberger’s work. Producing each gold cross-stitch element is a meticulous process, requiring roughly 25 hours of casting, polishing, and setting by Tiffany’s goldsmiths and craftspeople.
Housed in an 18k white gold case measuring 36mm, the watch is snow-set with 366 round brilliant diamonds totaling 2.9 carats, bringing the piece’s overall diamond count to 421 stones, or 3.4 total carats. The case-back features an engraved sunburst pattern inspired by Schlumberger’s Floral Arrows brooch, accented with diamonds. A red alligator strap completes the design, secured by an 18k white gold T buckle set with 43 diamonds.
Tiffany & Co. plans to produce the Sixteen Stone watch in limited quantities annually, continuing a tradition that traces back to the House’s nineteenth-century ruby-set timepieces held in The Tiffany Archives.
