TASAKI Drops a Mythic 30mm Pearl Masterpiece
Japan’s premier pearl house just opened its vault to reveal a mythic 30mm pearl that's been locked away since the '70s.
Japan’s premier pearl Maison TASAKI, has just unveiled a new suite of high jewellery creations. The collection blends avant-garde Japanese design with a decades-long gem-hunting legacy. And all eyes are on the mythic oversized pearl that has been locked away in a safe since the 1970s.
The centerpiece of the entire rollout is the Mabé Pearl Choker. The story behind it reads like a treasure hunt, where decades ago, TASAKI operated its own experimental pearl farm in the Persian Gulf. They successfully cultivated a handful of Mabé pearls measuring a massive 30mm, which is an almost completely impossible size for the species. Recognizing their extreme value, the House locked these treasures inside its Kobe atelier for decades, waiting for the perfect creative design. Only two necklaces were ever made using these pearls. One was instantly snapped up by a private collector before completion, making this choker the only one in existence to travel to Europe.
TASAKI has also dropped two gemstone sets that showcase their serious gemological muscle. Their gem hunters spent decades acquiring Paraiba tourmalines known for their electric, neon-blue glow. They have woven them into a fluid, three-dimensional platinum bib necklace and matching bracelet that moves like organic ocean waves across the skin.
Celebrating a delicate, blush-pink palette, the Floating Morganites set features pear and oval-cut morganites. TASAKI’s craftspeople used a setting technique that hides the metal, making the pink gemstones look as though they are floating within a ribbon of diamonds.
For London collectors looking to view this once in a generation piece of pearl history, the masterpiece has landed at their flagship boutique at 170 New Bond Street.
