The collaboration that changed fashion is back H&M x Stella McCartney
20 years after their first partnership, Stella McCartney and H&M debut their second collaboration.
Back in 2005, when the Stella McCartney label was still in its infancy, the brand launched a collaborative capsule with H&M. Though luxury fashion houses collaborating with high-street brands is something we’re all-too-familiar with in 2026 (notable recent collaborations including Pull & Bear x Karoline Vitto and Gap x Victoria Beckham), back in the early 2000s it was a risk for both parties.
Not only was the original Stella McCartney collaboration risky for being one of the first luxury/high-street collaborations, but also because of McCartney’s commitment to producing only cruelty-free and sustainable pieces, something which the fast fashion industry had yet to cotton on to. The original collaboration changed the face of the fashion industry, introducing luxury pieces at affordable price points and propelling the sustainability movement onto a widespread scale.
The 2026 capsule pays homage to pieces from the original collaboration, with bejewelled bra-tops and slogan tees. There are also ribbed dresses and tops featuring the iconic Stella McCartney Falabella chain from the first luxury vegan leather bag, as well as necklaces and earrings. From pieces like a studded ‘Rock Royalty’ crop-top plucked straight from the designer’s 1999 Met Gala look to a tailored trench coat, the collection reminisces on the indie-sleaze era of the original collaboration, and the quiet luxury trends punctuating the 2020s.
The campaign imagery stars long-term friend of H&M and sustainability advocate Adwoa Aboah alongside the new face of the Stella McCartney Falabella bag, Renee Rap shot by Sam Rock. Reflecting the interest of all parties involved, the collection prioritises recycled materials and organic cotton. Only the best for H&M x Stella McCartney.
