Dsquared2’s Pre-Spring/Summer 2027 collection is not your average glimpse of Italian summer.

For 30 years, Dsquared2 have been known as the rule breakers of high fashion, a brand built on sex appeal, distressed denim and bold slogans. It comes as no surprise, then, that when the House announced its Pre-Spring/Summer 2027, raffia sun hats and floral sundresses were notably missing from the ‘Italian Summer’ capsule.

Instead, what unfolds is a vision of a more hedonistic Italian summer, with clothes fit for a modern rockstar. The House describes the collection as rooted in a ‘deliberately clichéd vision of Mediterranean summer life’, but the kitschy motifs we usually associate with that (florals, shells, raffia textures) are swapped out for textures more in keeping with Dsquared2’s style codes.

For womenswear, this translates as ripped chainmail jeans, satin and lace slip dresses and layered cross necklaces. One arm of the collection has a more blokette-core feel to it, with brightly coloured sports jackets and tank tops elevated with open-toe heels. It’s the glamour of Italian nightlife infused with indie-sleaze spirit, accompanied at all times by the Roxy bag in its many iterations.

For menswear, that classic Dsquared2 sex appeal is conveyed by swim shorts peeking over the top of low-rise jeans, preppy shirts disrupted by ripped denim shorts and sheer black long-sleeve tops. There’s a tension between the ultra-masculine and the more feminine motifs trending alongside the ‘performative male’ aesthetic. Think: sequined waistcoats and lace-trimmed boxers. Paying homage to founders Dean and Dan Caten’s Canadian heritage, the Canadian tuxedo takes centre stage.

Overall, the collection presents a sultry, alternative view of Italian summer life, infused with Dsquared2’s edgy spirit and refusal to comply with the norm. It’s sexy, sophisticated and even a bit silly, and we can’t wait for it to drop. shop
