Rains Steps Into Footwear With the Dry Boot

The Danish label's first own-brand shoes are here and they're built for wet pavements, not wellie season.
Rains has launched its first ever footwear category, introducing the Dry Boot and Mirage, rubber rain boots and shoes designed for the city over the countryside. The drop marks the Scandi brand’s biggest expansion since moving into ready-to-wear, and lands globally in stores and online as of August 5.
It’s not the label’s first brush with footwear. Collaborations with Umbro, Zellerfeld and Vans came first, but this is the first time Rains has put its own name on a sole. The silhouettes stay true to the brand’s waterproof minimalism, with an anatomical shape sculpted exclusively for Rains by Martin Sallières and an outsole inspired by New York’s grid blocks, designed to grip wet and dry streets alike.
Development began back in 2024, with co-founder and CEO Daniel Brix Hesselager saying the brand “wanted to do it right,” positioning the Dry Boot alongside signatures like the Long Jacket and Hilo Weekend Bag. Chief designer Johanne Dindler pitches it as a rain boot without the usual trade-offs, promising something “waterproof, cushioned, easy on and off,” with a shape that has the city in mind.

The launch comes with an in-store twist. A larger-than-life Dry Boot sculpture will invite customers to scrawl their city recommendations onto it, later compiled into a crowd-sourced City Guide.
The Dry Boot and Mirage are available now at rains.com and in stores worldwide.
