Omega Constellation Observatory Collection: A New Era of Precision and Heritage Design
OMEGA’s new Constellation Observatory Collection pushes the boundaries of horology.
As far as luxury watch brands go, OMEGA has always been considered one of the best in the biz. The first watch to reach the moon and the official Olympic Games timekeeper since 1932, while other luxury watches are successful for their beauty or industry clout, OMEGA has a reputation for precision.
The latest Constellation Observatory Collection drop proves exactly this. Fresh out of the Laboratoire de Précision (OMEGA’s industry revolutionising chronometer testing lab), the watches in the collection have achieved something as of yet completely unheard of: Master Chronometer certification, without the need for a seconds hand.
Eight watches in 18k gold and steel alloy form the collection. The gold-faced watches include colourful leather straps complimentary to the gold used in the hardware, like rose-gold paired with a deep pinky-red, and there’s also a solid gold bracelet strap up for grabs, too. If cool-tones are more your thing, the collection includes silver alloy watches with black and white faces and black leather straps for a more understated look, or rich blue and green for something slightly more elevated. This technological feat is a major breakthrough in master horology, and serves as a reminder as to why OMEGA is one of the best-loved brands for those really into the craft. That said, aesthetics are equally important, so it’s a good thing no corners have been cut there, either. The watches in Constellation Observatory Collection present an ode to OMEGA’s history: overall composition akin to the 1948 Centenary watch, guilloché finish from the early Grand Luxe models and the signature Constellation sar at 6 o’clock and Observatory medallion on the back panel that we loved so much in the original model.
