Oakley takes us back to 2004 with the rerelease of the iconic FatCat sunnies
Oversized, sporty and impossibly cool Oakley's FatCat is back, and the off-duty model look will never be the same again.
Over recent years the infamous “off-duty model” look has become somewhat indistinguishable with the aesthetic Adam Sandler was sporting in the early ’00s. Skinny jeans have been swapped out for oversized Adidas shorts, ballet flats for chunky New Balance trainers and skinny visors for chunkier framed sports sunnies. And no one does those better than Oakley. Just in time as the bloke-core aesthetic gains traction, the brand has re-released an iconic sporty style from 2004.
The FatCat makes its re-entry into the world as part of the new MUZM collection, but apart from upgraded Prizm lenses, the sunnies stay true to their heritage with the same organic sculpting and deep-set lenses. Both oversized in their chunky form, but slim in that they take up no extra space beyond the eyes, the FatCats sit somewhere between sleek and sporty.
The MUZM FatCats come in understated colours of Matte Black and Cream, perfect for that “off-duty” look. Straddling futuristic aesthetics and key sports styles of the early ’00s, the timeless FatCat’s return to the market is welcomed and long overdue. shop
