Once a resale-site rarity, Miu Miu's Bubble shoe is now at its dressiest version.

First it was low-rise jeans, and then it was the chunky highlights that came back. Now the shoes that used to sit under both of them are back too. Miu Miu’s Bubble shoe, originally released in 1999 and mostly known since then as a resale-site rarity for archive-obsessed collectors, has been reissued as part of the FW26 collection, first shown on the Paris runway in March.

The new version keeps the shoe’s original soft shape but reworks it in leather and suede. It has a lightly padded upper and ribbed cotton laces, their tips dipped in a contrasting colour varnish. The sole gets the biggest update, lightened using newer manufacturing methods, with a more layered construction and a mix of transparent and solid sections, so it doesn’t look like one uniform block the way the original did. There’s also a dressier version in technical nylon finished with jewelled embroidery, the one that debuted on the runway.
