Melanie Georgacopoulos unveils Eclipse: a study in black and white jewellery

When it comes to jewellery, for me, more is more. I love to layer chunky pieces, and I’m all about the bling, but with a wardrobe made up only of black and white, I want my jewellery collection to match. For that reason, Melanie Georgacopoulos’ new Eclipse collection is top of my watchlist.

‘A study in contrast and form’, Eclipse explores the duality of black and white through sculptural design. Inspired by the physical dynamics of an eclipse, it balances the meeting of light and shadow through material, tone and form, with diamonds and onyx being the standout hardware. Georgacopoulos usually works with pearls, so Eclipse marks a standout venture into the world of hard stones for the designer.

Pearls are still present throughout the collection, weaving seamlessly through an onyx chain necklace and sitting atop rings encrusted with onyx and diamonds. Our favourite piece, however, is the Eclipse Gap Bangle: a chunky sterling silver bangle plated with black rhodium, and finished with a band of white freshwater pearls. 

Through the use of black and white stones, hard metals and soft pearls, the Eclipse collection sits somewhere between dark and light, hard and soft, edgy and graceful. The pieces are understated in their colour scheme, so stand out for their expert craftsmanship and attention to detail.
