The iconic Monogram flower gets a grown-up, edgier update with the introduction of navy sodalite a rare stone in fine jewellery, and the most striking addition to the Colour Blossom collection yet.

The Louis Vuitton Monogram flowers are the house’s most iconic emblem. Created in 1896 by Georges Vuitton as a tribute to his father, the motif has stood the test of time. The Colour Blossom Collection, a fine jewellery collection using the Monogram, was introduced with a limited colour palette in 2015, the hero pieces being a feminine pink and mother of pearl. Moving into a slightly more edgy era, the maison has debuted a new colour stone in the collection.

Navy blue sodalite is rarely seen in fine jewellery, which often favours more delicate hues. Louis Vuitton, however, has gone through a lengthy process to ensure that’s no longer the case. Though the stone is naturally rough, in crafting the Colour Blossom Jewellery it undergoes the same stringent process to ensure it is smooth, symmetrical and precisely shaped; no small feat for a hard stone which requires five times more polishing than its softer counterparts.

The sodalite’s debut is marked by a full new set of jewels, a total of seven new pieces. There are delicate pendants with a star and sun motif, a bracelet with a diamond inclusion, stud earrings and (Cable’s favourite) open ring with a sodalite star and diamond. The sodalite collection is as delicate and luxurious as the original pieces in the Colour Blossom Fine Jewellery Collection, but slightly more edgy and (dare we say?) grown up.

Alongside the sodalite pieces, the rest of the collection has also been expanded to include new pavé necklaces and pendants, a diamond studded ear cuff and further styles in the classic pink and mother of pearl designs. Contemporary, yet committed to heritage, the extended Colour Blossom Fine Jewellery line is a testament to Louis Vuitton’s commitment to fine jewellery craftsmanship, and is available to shop here now.
