Gap and Victoria Beckham announce their first collaboration

From Spice Girl to Gap girl! Victoria Beckham's transatlantic collaboration is quiet luxury for the rest of us.

Thanks to her recent Netflix documentary and drama with son Brooklyn, Victoria Beckham has no shortage of headlines under her belt this year. This month, however, she’s back in the spotlight for a different reason: a collaboration with American retailer Gap.

The collaboration proves to be an intersection of competing cultures: quintessentially British Victoria Beckham working with ultra-American Gap, Beckham’s polished clean-girl style and Gap’s accessible basics, but for some reason, it works. The collaboration opens with a 38-piece capsule of Gap classics reimagined by Victoria Beckham. With t-shirts starting from £25, it’s a more affordable way to own a piece by one of Britain’s most famed designers (and WAGs).

Key pieces include logo hoodies and denim co-ords inspired by ’80s and ’90s Gap silhouettes. The pieces have been injected with Victoria Beckham’s VB signature in red stitching. There’s also more Beckham-coded pieces on offer, like the minimalist tailored Cream Sleeveless Maxi Dress. From cropped t-shirts to a Khaki Green Parka, the collection reflects both Gap’s relaxed aesthetic and the Victoria Beckham ethos to create modern wardrobe essentials “that truly make women look and feel their best”.

The capsule is perfectly representative of Beckham’s refined, laid-back style as shown in the Netflix documentary. Made up of elevated basics and subtle branding, it’s quiet luxury done well at an affordable price point.
