Forget flimsy neckerchiefs. The house is using a custom, high-density twill to turn the traditional square scarf into a heavy piece of art.

Celine has just rolled out its new “Infinite Possibilities” accessory campaign lensed by photographers Eijin Ota and Victor Brun, and it completely bypasses the usual fleeting runway gimmicks. Instead of treating the traditional square carré scarf as an afterthought or a flimsy bit of fabric you just tie around a handbag strap, the house is treating it as a substantial, standalone piece of clothing.

Making the choice to avoid the standard, lightweight silk that loses its shape, the house engineered a brand-new silk twill specifically for this collection. It features a significantly denser weave than usual, which changes two things: it gives the scarf a much heavier, substantial drape, and it allows the printed graphics to look incredibly sharp with a deep, rich colour payoff.

The campaign also double-downs on the collectible hardware charms that Celine introduced at the tail end of last year. They haven’t discarded them when the seasonal calendar flipped, but kept them as a permanent fixture, designed to plug directly into both the current men’s and women’s ready-to-wear collections.
