Alysa Liu is Louis Vuitton’s new it-girl
It started with a viral skating clip and ended with a Louis Vuitton ambassadorship, Alysia Liu's 2026 is just getting started.
The Winter Olympics took place nearly two months ago now, but the clips of Alysia Liu skating to the ‘Stateside’ remix are still littered all over my For You Page. And it’s not just my algorithm by the looks of it, because since February Liu has featured on the cover of Teen Vogue, starred in Laufey’s new music video and now she’s Louis Vuitton’s new House Ambassador.
It’s not often we see female athletes rise to superstardom, and especially not in the skating sphere. While Louis Vuitton has tapped footballer Kylian Mbappé and rugby player Antoine Dupont in the past to represent their menswear lines, the womenswear ambassador alumni list is mainly made up of singers and actresses. To see Liu dive head first into the fashion world is as refreshing as a trip to the Italian alps in the thick of winter (something Liu knows all too well).
After having gone viral for her signature halo hair stripes and unmistakably Gen Z style, Liu’s history with the House can be traced back to her appearance at the brand’s FW26 show in the Brown Speedy Patch Denim co-ord, and her subsequent appearance at the elusive Vanity Fair Oscar Party in a Louis Vuitton little black dress.
There’s no questioning the authenticity of the partnership, not only thanks to Liu’s longstanding representation of the brand at public events, but also her comments on the appointment. “As a figure skater, I’m an athlete, I train hard, I skate fast, but when I’m performing, I want to show you how soft I can be. As a Louis Vuitton Ambassador, I get to show you my style, strength, and softness.” Liu embodies the modern Louis Vuitton woman, someone who is confident, creative and fearless, and her excitement about the appointment is as clear as day. “Louis Vuitton has made me feel included,” she said, and now the whole world knows it.
