Take a look inside the secret creative hub nestled in London’s finance district

A far cry from the hoards of finance bros in power suits and off-duty runners in quarter zips and gilets, there’s a creative hub hidden inside London’s finance district. Illusionaries is an artist-led experiential art hub.

Amongst Londoners, Canary Wharf gets a bit of a bad rep for being the most ‘soulless’ district on the Thames. Illusionaries, however, provides a welcome slice of escapism from the harsh reality of the rat race, and welcomes you into a world which blurs the line between reality and fantasy. 

Illusionaries is home to multisensory art exhibitions which weave together sound, light and movement. The installations inspire visitors to question the relationship between the conscious and the unconscious, the natural and the manufactured. Not your average picture gallery, Illusionaries has floor-to-ceiling 3D light installations paired with soundscapes for a full-body experience.

The space is currently home to Latent Spaces, a “meditative exploration of our collective unconscious through the eyes of artificial intelligence”. The exhibition is formed of artwork by Markos Kay, who works with generated art to explore the blurred lines between reality and simulation, and marks his first immersive exhibition. Latent Spaces is soundtracked by Jesse Solomon Clark, an esteemed sonic consultant with an impressive roster of exhibitions already under her belt.
