There is a quote that opens Anthony Vaccarello’s Summer 2027 collection for Saint Laurent, and it’s the kind of line that stays with you. “Nobody is trying to seduce you. What makes them seductive is that they do not need to.”
Forty looks. A fog machine. And a very quiet, very convincing argument that we have completely forgotten the pleasure of restraint.
The tailoring is sharp and considered three-button jackets cut higher on the body, narrow trousers, the kind of precision that makes you look twice without ever quite knowing why. Gold runs through the collection not as a shout but as a whisper, transforming a utilitarian trench into something extraordinary while remaining entirely wearable. The palette is grounded in grey, brown, black and beige, broken up by flashes of ochre, claret and powder blue that feel like secrets rather than statements.
Vaccarello looked to Marguerite Duras, Tina Chow and Tom Ripley as his references this season — three figures united by the art of omission. What they didn’t say, didn’t wear, didn’t show was always more interesting than what they did.
The show itself took place inside Fujiko Nakaya’s fog installation, models appearing and disappearing through the mist in a sixteen-minute performance that felt less like a runway and more like a dream you couldn’t quite hold onto.
