Paris Men’s Fashion Week SS27 Hottest Front Row So Far
From Madonna lighting a cigarette at Saint Laurent to Mick Jagger at Dior and Missy Elliott riding Pharrell's wave at Louis Vuitton Paris Men's Fashion Week SS27 hottest celebrity moments of the season so far.
We’re just over halfway through Paris Men’s Fashion Week, which runs from Tuesday 24 June to Sunday 28 June. This season features 36 runway shows and 38 presentations across the city. Day one kicked off with Saint Laurent, followed that same evening by Louis Vuitton.
Saint Laurent
Anthony Vaccarello staged the Saint Laurent show around Cloud #07156, an immersive fog installation by Japanese artist Fujiko Nakaya inside the Bourse de Commerce. The fog became an integral part of the show and worked with the models as they were directed to move in and out of it. The collection was a manifesto for restraint as show notes read “Nobody is trying to seduce you. What makes them seductive is that they do not need to.”
Looks included elongated jackets, colourful nylon anoraks, featherweight knits, leather underwear and transparent shoes typically seen in womenswear. In the crowd, footage of Charli XCX and Madonna each lighting a cigarette circulated widely, while Anja Rubik, Connor Storrie and Daisy Edgar-Jones were among the A-listers in attendance.
Louis Vuitton
Pharrell Williams transformed the gardens of Cité Internationale Universitaire, a location previously used by Victoria Beckham and Loewe, into an urban beach complete with real sand and a 37-metre-wide towering artificial wave. The house said, “On coasts around the world, the same impulse draws humans towards the tide: towards the monumental force of water, and the rebalancing rhythm of the ride.”
With sustainability in mind, Williams sourced water from Paris’ public water system, which circulated through a closed circuit during the show before being drained back into the city’s sewers.
He paid homage to surf culture through wetsuits, oversized board shorts stamped with the house’s iconic monogram, and chunky knits, with the final look being a monogram wetsuit. Singers Missy Elliott and Lola Young, actors Jeremy Allen White and Tahar Rahim and basketball player Victor Wembanyama were among the A-Listers.
Dior
Jonathan Anderson staged his third Dior menswear collection at the grand Musée Nissim de Camondo. The collection balanced formality with looseness, as chiffon pinstripes, tuxedos over ripped denim and a silk shirt referencing 1979 haute couture sat alongside reimagined archive details and a palette that moved from metallics through to pastels. A soundtrack curated by Fred Again, with vocals from Christine and the Queens, set the tone for a front row that included Mick Jagger, Jimin, Lil Simz and Chiwetel Ejiofor.
