Ferragamo is taking its family history to the big screen at the 83rd Venice International Film Festival
The brand’s upcoming Venice Film Festival short tackles the panic of finding your own path when your last name is already written in history.
Martina Ferragamo is about to star in a movie about her own family, and it’s headed straight to Venice. The Italian luxury house has just announced it will premiere a new short film, Un Passo Alla Volta (One Step at a Time), at the 83rd Venice International Film Festival on September 9th.
Written by and starring Martina, the granddaughter of the legendary shoemaker Salvatore Ferragamo himself, the plot follows an actress who gets hired to play her own relatives on a movie set. As filming goes on, reality and imagination start to blur, dragging her into a dreamlike trip through her family’s past. The narrative weaves through her grandfather Salvatore’s ties to Old Hollywood and her grandmother Wanda’s massive role in building the fashion house.
Directed by Simone Coppo and featuring a heavyweight Italian cast including Margherita Buy, the film gives a creative look at what it actually feels like to navigate your own identity when your family’s last name is already carved into fashion history.
