Dior Men’s Summer 2027: Soirée to House Party
Jonathan Anderson watches how young people actually live and builds an entire Dior men's collection around it.
Moved to 9am to escape the Parisian summer heat, the Dior Men’s Summer 2027 show unfolded across the grounds of the grand Musée Nissim de Camondo, a mansion built around Moïse de Camondo’s collection of 18th-century decorative arts. Currently closed for restoration, the space has become both a museum and a memorial. Jonathan Anderson, creative director, said the “undone nature” of the museum connected to the collection.
In his third menswear outing at the house, Anderson, who was spotted in a blue chambray shirt, said the collection was rooted in watching how young people actually live. Dior described the mood as a soirée turning into a house party.
The show opened and closed with the same model. The first look was a pinstriped drop-lapel jacket in translucent, draping chiffon, and the final look sent him out with a tilted bow tie and what could be an overnight bag as though the party had run through till morning. Houndstooth was printed rather than woven, polka dots replaced by sequins, and an embroidered silk shirt took a trompe l’oeil scarf motif from 1979 Dior haute couture.Looks spanned a tuxedo with a looser fit worn over a ripped jean, to a formal coat paired with pink denim shorts.
The palette spanned from metallics and earth tones through to pastels. A vintage zigzag blanket became a bag and cannage quilting appeared on a spongy denim tote and shoes told their own story with suede lace-ups carrying embroidery and boots left with their woven surface roughed up.
The show unfolded to a soundtrack curated by Fred Again with artists including KTNA, Mabe Fratti and Jame T, with original vocals by French singer and songwriter Christine and the Queens. The star-studded guest list spanned faces including Mick Jagger, Jimin, Lil Simz and Chiwetel Ejiofor.
